Carpenter bees are distributed throughout the world and seven specious are most common in North America. There are around 500 specious of carpenter bees. Carpenter bees are beneficial insect as they pollinate a wide variety of plant species. Carpenter bees are known for their habit of boring into wood to build galleries for the rearing of young. Carpenter bees are solitary and do not have hives as honey bees.

Carpenter Bees Identification

Carpenter Bees Beetles can easily be identified. They resemble with bumble bees but are larger and robust. They have a shiny top surface. The male member has a yellow colored face while the female has black.

Carpenter Bees Habitat

These beetles can cause damage to a variety of materials. They tunnel in the wood and damage furniture.

Carpenter Bees Life Cycle

Female member of Carpenter Bees construct individual cells within each tunnel and each of them contains one egg with sufficient food for a developing larva. Carpenter bees have a life span of one year. Adult bees emerge briefly in fall, feed and re-enter their galleries to pass the winter. The bees those survived in the winter emerge again in April, mate, and produce a new generation.

Preparation Guidelines for a Carpenter Bees Treatment

  1. All unwashed wool, fiber clothing should be washed or place it in a hot dryer for one hour.
  2. Remove the furniture from the edges of rooms and clear the closet floors and shelves
  3. Vacate the areas.
  4. Do not enter in the areas during treatment and after for minimum of 4 hours or until the product dries.
  5. After re-entry if possible open windows and doors for about 20 minutes.
  6. Pregnant women, infants and people suffering from heart, kidney, and other such major ailments should consult doctor before service and if possible avoid the areas for at least 24 hours.
